Why Deco Gel Concrete Acid Stain is Unique

The best thing about acid stain is its ability to infuse concrete with rich and deep color tones. Depending on the color and application techniques used, the results can mimic everything from polished marble to natural stone or even stained wood. Something else to remember about concrete stain is that no two projects will look alike! Application, color selection, concrete surface conditions and environmental factors all play important roles in the final outcome.

How Does Deco Gel Acid Stain Differ from Acid Stain?

Deco Gel is the perfect choice for vertical surfaces like retaining walls, fireplace surrounds, countertops and concrete decor. Because the stain is in gel form, there are no drips or runs so the product works well on projects ill-suited for liquid stains. In addition, Deco Gel is formulated to closely match our liquid acid stains making it ideal for borders, intricate designs/stencils and free-hand art on acid stained floors. The product is easy to apply using foam brushes or rollers, sponges and artist brush for close work.

Preparing the Surface

All glue, paint, heavy dirt, oil or similar contaminants must be removed from the surface and the pores of the concrete before staining. All pre-application tests should be performed after cleaning to determine concrete’s suitability for staining. Acid stain, though unique, is not the only color option. Don’t give up if you have a heavily soiled or otherwise challenging concrete project.
