Concrete Countertop Project Checklist
Everything You Need for Concrete Countertops the First Time
DCI Countertop Mix is a specially formulated mix designed for both strength and ease-of-use. Looking for just the right amount concrete pigment color for your countertop? Select a no hassle pre-measured concrete pigment color pack for your countertop mix.- Using a pre-bagged ready mix? Add DCI Countertop Admix for best results. One gallon is intended for use with one 80 lb. bag of concrete mix.
- In conjunction with DCI Countertop Mix, use Fiberglass Net in place of reinforced steel bar in your countertop. Fiberglass net provides the same strength but is much easier to work with.
- For extra depth and character, add either Decorative Natural Aggregate or Glass Aggregate. Press the desired amount of aggregate into the bottom of your form to be polished on the surface after the countertop has cured.
- Polish to a beautiful, smooth finish with our polishing pads set. Use the polishing pads before acid staining or sealing the surface.
- For a more diverse appearance, apply one or more Acid Stain colors. Use Direct Colors Deco Gel acid stain for stenciling or free-hand art on the surface. Depending on the porosity of the surface, one quart of Acid Stain or Deco Gel will cover approximately 50 sq. ft.
Select the right sealer for your application. Lithium-based Sealer/Hardener produces a matte or semi-gloss finish and the Krystal Kote Sealer offers a high gloss finish. Both sealers are countertop certified and can be applied with a Padco ™ Smoother applicator.- Apply Concrete Countertop Wax to any surface sealed with an acrylic sealer, including Krystal Kote. The wax can be applied with a soft cloth and finished with a buffer attachment for a handheld drill motor.
