Rustic Concrete Countertops: Transforming a Small Cabin Kitchen

I recently moved into a small rustic cabin and wanted to give my kitchen a rustic feel as well. After researching various options, I decided to go with concrete countertops and found concrete overlay to be the perfect solution. The project was substantial as I had to move the location of my kitchen.

I used a plywood base topped with hardy backer boards, which I secured with screws and liquid nails. I applied a skim coat of Beachfront Buff integrally colored concrete overlay, and then stained it with Cola and Malayan Buff EverStain acid stains.

I finished it off with a coat of your EasySeal satin sealer.

The Great Debate: Painting or Refinishing a Formica Countertop?

I recently completed a one-day project to re-finish my bathroom vanity Formica countertops using Direct Colors’ Ash color concrete overlay and satin EasySealc sealer. I had previously tried painting them, but the concrete finish looks much better.

As a beginner, I found it helpful to work on small patches at a time and mix smaller amounts to avoid the concrete overlay from drying out before I could finish the current batch. I am very happy with the final result and recommend using concrete overlay for anyone looking to update their Formica countertops

DIY Concrete Countertops: A Seasonal Home Upgrade with Acid Stained Finishes

We decided to upgrade the kitchen in our seasonal home by creating our own poured in place concrete countertops. Through much trial and error, testing different concrete mixtures and colors, we finally achieved the rustic and unique look we were going for with acid stains.

The process was not without challenges, but through research, patience, and practice, we were able to achieve the desired outcome. For the countertops, we used acid stain in Coffee Brown, Desert Amber, and Seagrass to create a mottled, natural-looking finish.
