Used as a Surface Profiler to Improve Penetration and Bonding of Acid Stains and Concrete Sealers

DCI Hard Trowel Floor Preparation is specially formulated as a pre-treatment for machine-troweled concrete floors that have been over troweled, burned-in or polished during the finishing process.

Proper surface preparation is critical to product performance. New and existing bare concrete substrate should be clean and etched with DCI ProFormance Hard-Troweled Floor Prep to insure proper penetration of Direct Colors Concrete Acid Stain or Deco Gel. Failure to achieve a clean uniformly porous surface could result in the uneven acid stain appearance.

APPLICATION:

Mix DCI Hard Trowel Surface Preparation with water one part surface prep to two parts water. The solution should be applied in a consistent and uniform manner with a pump up sprayer over the entire surface.  The surface prep solution should not be dumped onto the floor and swept over the surface. DO NOT APPLY FULL STRENGTH TO THE CONCRETE.

The Hard-Troweled Floor Prep solution a weak bubbling reaction may occur on the concrete.  The floor should not be allowed to dry out during the etching period.  Neutralize thoroughly after 15 minutes with clean water and allow to dry prior to acid staining. The floor is ready to stain when the concrete has the feeling of fine sandpaper to the touch.

CLEANING:

All dirt, oil, grease, wax, dust, sealers, release agents, paint and other contaminants should be removed from the concrete prior to the application of DCI Hard Troweled Surface Prep. DCI Orange Cleaner/Degreaser can be used to remove stains and debris. Curing agents, sealers and paint should be chemically stripped with Soy Gel Professional Paint Stripper or by mechanical means such as sanding or light diamond grinding.

New concrete should be cured 30 days before applying DCI Hard Troweled Floor Prep.

COVERAGE:

When diluted one part DCI Hard Trowel Surface Prep and 2 parts water, the product will cover approximately 400 square feet.
