Krystal Kote Water-Based High Gloss Sealer

Malayan Buff Acid Stain sealed with Krystal Kote Sealer Smooth Gray Overlay Azure Blue Malayan Buff Avocado Acid Stain sealed with Krystal Kote

Description: Krystal Kote Concrete Sealer is a High Gloss, Water Based, Cross-linking, Acrylic Compound for interior use and exterior use. Appropriate for concrete countertop, residential and commercial flooring applications.

Benefits: Krystal Kote will resist Water, Formula 409, Gasoline, Brake Fluid, Transmission Fluid, MEK, Xylene, Methyl Alcohol, 20% Nitric Acid, 50% Sodium Hydroxide and will not crack or scuff under the “Hot Tire Test”. Krystal Kote is both UV Stable and Chemical resistant.

Coverage: Depending on the porosity and condition of the concrete, Krystal Kote will cover up to 350 square feet per gallon. For outdoor projects, apply two coats of sealer for increased durability. Apply one coat of sealer for indoor floors and finish with Concrete Floor Wax and Polish.

Application: Krystal Kote can be applied using a Padco® Floor Coater or Trim Pad for fantastic, high shine results.  For best results with water-based sealers, soak the applicator in warm water and shake out access before beginning the application. Only an HVLP Sprayer or Airless Sprayer can be used to apply Krystal Kote for fast, easy application.   Back-rolling with a 3/8″ or less nap roller is necessary for all sprayed applications. Allow up to 24 hours drying time after each sealer coat. No more than two thin coats of sealer should be applied to any surface indoors or out.  Thick coats will result in an inconsistent finish with tacky areas that may not set-up correctly. Sealers applied with an applicator should be “pushed on” only. Pulling back with the applicator will result in unattractive sealer streaks that often require stripping to correct.  Do not apply a second coat of sealer in areas where the sealer has remained white or is tacky to the touch. Keep in mind that not all concrete slabs are completely level or smooth which can cause sealer to pool or appear dull in spots if troweled finish is uneven.  If you live in a humid climate or the weather conditions are damp and overcast, give the surface additional time to dry. Do not walk on wet sealer, as it will leave permanent impressions on your surface. Cover your feet with plastic bags to protect your floor’s finish.  Do not allow foot or vehicle traffic for up to 24 hours after sealing.

Krystal Kote should be used for basement applications ONLY when the humidity is low, water seepage is not a problem and/or a moisture barrier was poured in the basement slab. Under certain conditions, water can become trapped between the concrete slab and the sealer resulting in a milky appearance or pressure cracks. Consider consulting your concrete contractor or builder for more information prior to undertaking any basement project.

For best results with concrete countertops, dilute the project appropriate amount of Krystal Kote Water-based Sealer – 2 parts water to 1 part sealer.  Make certain the countertop is clean and free of debris before sealing. Wet the surface of the countertop and wipe off all excess water. Using folded t-shirt material or cotton knit cloth, spread the diluted sealer evenly over the surface. Let the sealer dry for about an hour or until dry to the touch. Repeat this process at least three times. For the final coat, use a Padco Smoother that has been soaked in warm water and shake out the excess water. Using a plastic paint tray to hold the sealer, apply a thin coat of undiluted Krystal Kote to the dry surface. This application technique will give you good color depth and excellent bonding strength. Follow with DCI Natural Countertop Wax for indoor countertops. Applicators and tools clean up easily with soap and water.

Cold Temperature Warning:  DO NOT apply Water-Based Sealer When Surface Temperature are below 60°F. with an air temperature difference of 5 degrees or less. Central heating, radiant or convection heaters, or similar heating devices should be turned off during application. In-floor heating should be set at 60-65 degrees before application and turned off during the process.
