Concrete Stepping Stones & Acid Stain Decor make Father’s Day about spending time together outdoors. Improve the Backyard & make memories with DIY Acid Stain
It is easier than you might think to enhance the color and character of newly poured concrete using pigment. Our line of Integral Concrete Pigments act like a dye for your wet cement. Simply add any of our iron oxide pigments to your concrete mix and pour your way to stunning colored concrete Countertops, Overlay, Stucco, Plaster, Mortar and Grout. The pigment colors the concrete completely, from the inside out, offering consistent, even tones across the slab. Direct Colors pigments are of high quality, dry, light-fast, odorless, alkali, weather resistant, UV stable, non-hazardous, chemically inert and water-insoluble.
The principle advantage of integral pigments is that it colors the concrete throughout so even if damaged or worn, the color remains unchanged. Integral pigment is also ideal for stamped concrete where a pattern is present.
Choose a color from our ready mix Concrete Pigment Color Chart, or create your own custom color. Mix any pigment color with Direct Colors Concrete Countertop Mix, Concrete Overlay, grout, stucco, plaster or similar cement-based materials. Integral pigment powder is a fast, easy option for any concrete project, large or small.
Even for first-time DIYer’s, pouring integrally colored concrete is as easy as pouring new concrete! Our ready-mix Pigment is added to the concrete during normal mixing; after pouring, the concrete may be finished smooth, stamped or textured. A stamped or textured surface is ideal for accent and contrasting through the use of Colored Antiquing Stain for greater depth and variation. All outdoor concrete should be sealed after 28 days of curing with one of our Specialty Formulated Sealers. Check out our, “Pouring and Stamping Colored Concrete” video to see the step-by-step process, from mixing to sealing!
Concrete Pigment is a popular integral Countertop Coloring Option, especially for polished surfaces. Because the concrete is integrally colored, the polishing process won’t remove or diminish the surface color. Polishing concrete makes your countertop smooth and vibrant, enhancing the color for a stunning, marble-like finish. Integral Color Concrete Pigment can also be used to create a countertop base color for Acid Stain or Deco Gel accents and fine design work. In effect, your concrete “canvas” starts as a different color than gray, allowing you to blend and contrast new themes on top using acid stain products.
Direct Colors provides several Concrete Pigment Calculators to help users determine how much Pigment will be needed for their projects. The pigment needed to achieve a specific color is based on the amount of cement in the mix rather than the total weight of the bag. The project calculator tool is designed to calculate for truck pours, custom concrete batches, and bags of ready mix concrete. When using the custom batch calculator, keep in mind that the weight of cement will vary by material—adjust your values accordingly.
