Make your own Halloween Tombstone using Direct Colors Inc. products in 11 Easy Steps! Happy Halloween!
Mr. N. Baguley of Utah acid stained about 1000 sq. ft. in his home and shared his story with us.
“Without Direct Colors, I couldn’t have completed this project. I searched for products at several different companies and found that Direct Colors provided the best stain for the vivid colors I wanted and a photo gallery that helped me to determine what I wanted to do. I was also able to get a sample kit for a very low cost with more than enough stain to practice and discover techniques and see how it would look.”
I used a pump up weed control sprayer like those sold by Direct Colors. I sprayed and poured/dripped the stain directly on the floor. To get a variety of saturation and overall look I used differing dilution rates from full-strength acid stain to heavily diluted stain (with water). I also varied the amount of time the acid stain was left on the floor and allowed the stains to mix at times and kept them separate for others.
In an attempt to make the floor look more “natural”, I used some principles from the “golden mean” or “golden ratio”. “I didn’t stay within the ratios perfectly; eventually the floor took on a pattern and feel of its own.
“Since my original purchase, the website has improved drastically from very good to above excellent. Now you can find many different types of products for different projects, tools and a lot of information including pictures, techniques, and steps to consider.”
“I’m very happy with the way my acid stain floors look and everything Direct Colors has done to make it happen. Considering the cost, the ability to customize, and the impressive final look, I will probably use Direct Colors for every project possible from now on. Direct Colors has earned a customer for life.”
